McCarthy, Alaska

Pilots:
Most of the more remote airports in Alaska are listed as "unpaved".  If you are used to flying into unpaved airstrips in the Continental US, you will find that many of the Alaskan airfields could be more aptly described as "rocks".  We were somewhat fortunate in taking our trip in a 20+ year old aircraft with the original paint, as there were considerable stone nicks along the wing and struts (and prop) accumulated throughout the trip.
