Dawson Creek, BC, the beginning of the Alaska Highway.  This was more our "quick" mode of overnighting, just pull out the tent and set it up next to the plane.

Pilots:
From a practical standpoint, the Alaska Highway is the only safe route into Alaska.  We had no itinerary for the trip, and the Highway was our only real early destination.  We met many, many other pilots on the way, particularly as we camped by the plane, and they became our source for determining where else to go on the rest of the trip, and often the best way to get there as well.  As it turned out, I think this was one of the keys to having such a fabulous trip.  There is no guidebook as such, and advice from other pilots led us to many spectacular destinations that we might have otherwise overlooked.
